Privacy policy · Updated 11 October 2026

Sana: Voice Tasks is developed by Abhiraman Bakshi. This policy describes how the iPhone and native Mac apps handle your information.

On your device

Sana stores tasks, task notes, full transcript history, reminder preferences, your profile name, optional email and optional profile photo locally. Your name is a local profile preference, not an app account. Your email does not create an account or subscribe you to marketing. On iPhone, selected note photos use Apple’s photo picker. On Mac, note images can be selected from local files. Note images are stored as local PNG files in Sana’s Note Images storage on that device.

Voice processing

Microphone audio is recorded locally. Sana requires on-device speech recognition and uses a bundled on-device language model to turn transcripts into tasks. Notes dictation also requires on-device recognition. Sana does not send recordings to a developer-operated server or cloud AI service. If on-device speech recognition is unavailable, use typed tasks or notes. Full transcript history stays local; the original speech text attached to a task can be included in optional task sync.

Successful task recordings are removed after transcription succeeds. A failed recording can remain locally for retry. Cancelling removes the current recording. A replacement recording removes the previous retry recording only after the new recording starts successfully. Dismissing a saved-recording notice stops offering that recording at launch. Dismissed recordings are cleaned up when Sana starts and their creation date is more than a week old. Successful transcription text is retained locally in transcript history.

Private iCloud sync

When Backup & sync is enabled and available, Sana uses Apple CloudKit to store its task journal in your private iCloud database. This includes task titles, completion, reminders and repeats, note text and the original speech text attached to tasks (spokenSource). Notes may contain image-reference text, but Sana does not upload note image file bytes as part of task sync. A note photo stored on one device may be unavailable on another. Full transcript history, audio files and profile details are not included in the task journal. We do not have access to your private iCloud database. Apple handles iCloud under its own privacy policy.

Purchases & notifications

Apple processes trial and lifetime In-App Purchases. Sana checks verified StoreKit transactions and stores a trial-start or revocation marker to preserve the original 72-hour trial. Restore does not start a new trial. We do not receive payment-card details. There is no subscription or automatic charge. Reminders use local notifications on iPhone or Mac and require your permission.

No tracking

Sana has no advertising, tracking SDKs or developer-operated analytics service. We do not sell your data.

Your controls

Edit or delete tasks in the app, change your profile details, disable Backup & sync, or revoke microphone, speech recognition and notification permissions in iOS Settings or macOS System Settings. Turning Backup & sync off stops Sana’s task sync; it does not delete existing iCloud data. Manage iCloud storage through Apple’s controls. On iPhone, removing the app deletes its local app container. Trial-start and revocation markers are stored in Apple Keychain; removing the app may leave these markers in place to preserve the original trial period.
