Privacy Policy
No advertising, tracking, or developer-run analytics.
Hush plays your music files and internet radio on iPhone and Mac. We do not operate a server that collects your listening history, personal information, analytics, or crash reports.
Your playlist, equalizer settings, radio presets, playback history, and chosen folders are stored on your device. On iOS, the app shares station details, recent track information, cached artwork, and spectrum snapshots with its own widget extension through a local app group.
Favourite radio station names, stream addresses, and changes to your favourites are stored using Apple's iCloud key-value service to support syncing across devices signed into the same Apple Account. iCloud is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your device settings.
Network features contact the following services:
- Internet radio: tuning a station connects directly to its streaming provider, which can receive your IP address and normal connection information. Station searches contact the Radio Browser directory with your search terms. Some stations provide song information through their own metadata services.
- Radio artwork and facts: song and artist names may be sent to Apple's iTunes Search API to find artwork, and to Wikipedia to retrieve information about the current song or artist. Radio Notes widget facts are bundled with the app and do not require a network lookup.
- Share to iPhone: when enabled on your Mac, a local Bonjour server shares your chosen music library and playback information with an authorised Hush iPhone on your local network. This requires local-network access and incoming connections on the Mac.
- Files and AirPlay: music in iCloud Drive downloads through Apple's services. AirPlay sends playback to the speaker or receiver you choose through Apple's system routing.
- Track Credits and Liner Notes: the song's title, artist, album and ISRC code, and the names of the people credited on it, are sent to MusicBrainz (privacy policy), Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons (for artist photos; privacy policy), Deezer (privacy policy) and Apple's iTunes Search API (privacy policy) to fetch who worked on it.
- Best Tracks: album and artist names are sent to Deezer's public catalogue to see which songs are most popular (Deezer privacy policy).
Third-party services have their own privacy policies and receive normal network connection information. Hush does not add advertising identifiers or tracking codes to these requests. Mac play and skip counts used to choose your best tracks stay on your device.
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page.
